Gospel for Kids
Gospel for Kids is targeted for fifth through eighth graders. The uniqueness of the course is its emphasis on the Gospel message as it applies to the questions and longings of children in this age group.
The aim of the course is to lead children to discover that Jesus is the One they’ve longed for their whole lives. They already know that something is terribly wrong with the world. They are scared as they think about the future but unwilling to settle for predigested answers to their questions. I want them to know how in tune their fears and hopes are with the Gospel. Jesus is the only One who can rescue them from ALL the effects of the Fall. The rescue begins in this life and is substantial. But in the life to come, the rescue is complete: a perfect world, with no more sorrow, no more pain, no more fears, no more death.
Gospel for Kids teaches that Jesus came to rescue us from the sin and misery that comes from rebelling against our compassionate Creator. He came to turn rebels into his sons and daughters. The course is not about creating better behaved rebels, more successful rebels, rebels with good self-esteem, or rebels who have warm feelings about Jesus. I want children to know the Biblical Jesus. Therefore I worked hard to remove the many prejudices they may have about him. Then I portrayed his beauty as displayed in the glory of our redemption.
